days, weeknights, weekends and overnight shifts

The successful applicant will enforce various by-laws with emphasis on parking by-laws; conduct patrols; issue tickets and certificates of offence related to overnight parking, on-street parking, parking meters, fire routes, handicapped parking, sidewalk snow removal; provide relief in enforcing nuisance enforcement, perform related administrative duties; attend and give evidence in court as required. The job involves considerable driving and walking plus some lifting and handling of animals when required. This is a part-time position involving no more than 24 hours of work per week on average. The 2009 wage range is from $16.60/hr to $22.92/hr.

Applicants must have at least a Grade 12 education plus some post-secondary courses in law enforcement or a closely related field; at least six months of closely-related work experience; basic knowledge of municipal law enforcement gained from either post-secondary courses or practical work experience; a valid driver's licence and a good driving record; good interpersonal, public relations, oral and written communication skills; must be willing and able to walk extensively in all weather conditions. Must have either completed, or be willing to enroll in and successfully complete, the Municipal Law Enforcement Officers’ Association’s basic training course, and the Municipal Administration Program.
